Pastor Steve Gates

Pastor Steve Gates was born in Greene, New York, and brought up on a dairy farm. At the age of 16, he was born again while at a youth rally. His pastor mentored him for the next couple of years and before long he was preaching and singing for the Lord. He knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that he was called into the ministry.

The Lord led him to attend the Northeast Bible Institute (now known as the University of Valley Forge).  This is an Assemblies of God school. While there he had the opportunity to travel with the choir, preach, and sing with a quartet. He graduated in 1974. Pastor Steve has pastored churches in New York, Indiana and has been at Family Worship Center in Waynesburg, Kentucky, for the past 8 years. He has youth pastor experience also.  As far as life experiences outside of pastoring, he has been a salesman of used cars, windows, farm equipment, he tiles bathrooms, and lays flooring. He has traveled to Guyana, Haiti and Zimbabwe, Africa on short term mission trips.

Preparing the church to live this life in victory, to know and love the Word of God, to be able to stand for Christ in this culture, to brightly shine their lights among others, is what he focuses on in his preaching and teaching.

He has been married to Judy Presti Gates for almost 47 years.  They have two daughters, Jessica and Stephanie.
